The Whole Grain Bakery

The Whole Grain Bakery is a concept for a fictional bakery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2020, The Whole Grain Bakery not only was looking to establish their brand identity, but they were also faced with the challenge of the COVID-19. When the bakery closed its dining room to the public and switched to contactless walk-up and curbside service they also needed branded signage to communicate clearly with their customers to create a safe and efficient experience.

Logo Design

The Whole Grain Bakery is located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's clientele includes young professionals, families, and locals. Their products include baked goods and a limited deli menu made from organic and locally sourced ingredients. The Whole Grain Bakery's brand identity is based on their midwestern roots and harkens to Prairie School design.

COVID-19 Contactless Service Plan

Like so many other businesses in 2020, The Whole Grain Bakery was effected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to maintain the safety of both their staff and their customers, they decided to only offer contactless service. This presented the challenge of creative branded signage on their specified safety protocols as well as a cost effective way to keep the daily menu up to date physically and online. The solution for their online and telephone ordering was a sign with instructions and a QR code to order as well as a chalkboard with daily offerings for telephone orders.

REASSEMBLY: Senior Thesis Exhibition
